Well, as stated in yesterday’s post, today is the last day of Kaleidoscope where artists come together and showcase their art piece to the public.. Some of these artist are not just the locals but also friends from the regional countries.. It was also quite a crowd-puller at Funan… ^^
The event was held on Saturday to Sunday, 1st – 2nd November at the Funan IT Mall’s Atrium, located on the first floor..
Although the exhibition was actually quite small, there were alot of digital artworks on show.. Me and Fuzzy got to see the beautiful artworks up close.. Well, we’ve counted 5 different categories, each with their own specific artworks…
So let us begin with Collateral Damage Studios (CDS) artworks.. They are known for creating most of their digital artworks of anime characters; usually those you most probably can recall.. They are also the host for this year Kaleidoscope so it is a big thanks to them for organising such a great exhibition..
Anyway, I’ll just show you all the pictures regarding to each categories in the exhibiton.. Enjoy looking at the posters… ^^
Black Rock Shooter artwork looks nice..
The Kaleidoscope girl artwork makes some people drool… xD
Little Busters anyone??
Next up we have the Imaginary Friends Studios (IFS) , a well known art studio in Singapore which is famous around the world for their own renowned artworks.. They were there to showcase some of their artworks which some of you might recognise in some of the games you played..
Like this for example; the artwork of their DoTA game.. It is a really nice artwork IMO.. ^^
An artwork for an online game? Possibly..
Next up, we have the Tertiary Students Category where we can see most of the artworks from Universities, especially NUS.. Well, when I go and take a look at them, I took a liking to some of the artworks from there..
Here are some of the artworks in the “Tertiary Students” category..
CAN you guess all of the characters in this artwork?? xD
Nagi is <3.. ^^
The Regional Artists were next and I have to say, their artworks are pretty amazing.. From what I heard, the artists are all from Malaysia so its good to see their artworks..
This is my favourite artworks among the rest; Black Rock Shooter.. I love the details the artist put on the artwork and love the way he paint BRS’s blue flames from her left eye..
This Black Rock Shooter artwork is a must get.. x3
Last but not least, we have the Independent Artists; not part of any group whatsoever.. However, being independent doesn’t really mean their artwork doesn’t look nice or something like that.. Some of them are pretty beautiful to see..
This Hatsune Miku artwork is simply amazing..
We got to have some Touhou love, right??
Well, apart from those 5 categories, there are the doodle boards which anyone can draw on it.. Alot of people drew some nice artworks, especially this one of Shana..
Can anyone identify the character??
And among those I spotted a Hatsune Miku sketch.. Very nice indeed.. ^^
Ah, the exhibiton ended quite early on the 2nd day, so me and Fuzzy pretty much went home earlier.. But that doesn’t mean we went home empty-handed.. Well, we politely ask CDS whether or not we could take home some of the artwork as keepsake.. So, what artworks did we get from the exhibiton??
Well, I brought home the Black Rock Shooter artwork while Fuzzy got the “Green Hairs” artwork..
“Green Hairs” looks very nice indeed, with about 7 well-known characters in it, espcially Miku.. xD
Artwork is by Jon Ong from NUS..
Yea, when I got this, I was like ‘Wow!”… Nuff said.. ^^;;
Artwork is by Kaizeru..
Well, thats all I have from Kaleidoscope.. The exhibition was amazing even though the exhibition is quite small.. Me and Fuzzy got to enjoy looking at the artworks and also the sketches drawn by people we never met before..
It is a pity I couldn’t get the Hatsune Miku artwork since the owner wants to keep it for himself which I’m fine with it.. They couldn’t hand out the posters that could be given away to just anyone because they do not want the pictures to be misused.. So I shall keep guard to it 24/7.. xD
At least we get to meet up with some of the gang from CDS and also from IFS.. To those who did attend this event, hope you enjoyed it as well.. We hope to see the next Kaleidoscope next year.. ^^

Damn I missed some great artwork to be bought.
Once again, thanks to all the guys at Kaleidoscope (and the artists) for letting us (and a few other people) keep some of the artwork. ^.^
I wonder how long they’ll last though.
seeing as they are matte laminated and nicely mounted, i wager they will last a long long time. you might want to score the foam behind to ensure that it doesn’t warp though.
I was there on Saturday, but for a totally different purpose. Caught sight of the pictures and went to take a look, and was quite impressed. Was also surprised there were Guilty Gear characters there
@ Panther: They are actually not for sale.. You sort of have to be recognised by CDS to be exclusively given the posters.. Normal people would not even have any chance of getting any of the posters..
@ TheFuzzy: Hence,we need to frame them up somehow soon.. I don’t want the artwork to get damaged whatsoever.. -_-;;
@ Tragic Comedy: Yeah, when I saw the foam, I got abit worried on how long they will last.. Need to think of some way to protect them.. Any ideas?
And I would like to thank you all for giving us 2 of the posters.. Much appreciated.. ^^
@ Malzias: Yeah, the Millia Rage poster was awesome.. You should have come on Sunday and maybe have a chance to get her.. ^^;
“Recognized.”
OMG Fariz! Why you never took some for me too… Now i’m sad… xD
I should have stayed to until it was finished to get some of them too… =(
Is it bad that I can identify all the green-haired girls…
@ Fariz
sorry, abit of correction needed here…
We give out the artworks to people we can trust not to misuse them, not out of any special ‘recognition’ that you speak of.
to prevent the artworks from warping (which is caused by the foam board shrinking due to cold and if you dun have air con its not a problem), you can score the back of the foam length wise, or stick ice cream sticks to the back to prevent it from bending.
@ Panther & Tragic Comedy: Whoops.. My mistake there.. Ok its fixed now.. Hope people wont misinterpret it… Darn.. Gomenasai..
@ Tragic Comedy: Hmm.. Ok, I’ll give it a try.. Thanks alot.. ^^
@ Kaze: Darn.. I forgot to ask about you.. Gomen.. X3
@ Chibi: Nope, it is AWESOME if you can identify all.. I give you a cookie as a prize.. xD
was there on Saturday too (:
~NoisylittleGirl: Really??
AS I said before, There is some cool works in there..
Malaysian artwork was nothing great, as expected. :\
I went there on Sunday afternoon. Great artwork.
Btw the sketch below Shana is of Noumi from little busters
Haha that’s right Squee
Mizunaga: The Malaysian art is fantastic. Thats what i think personally.
Anyways, it’s really quite easy to recognise all 7 girls
1) Asa from Shuffle
2) Tsuruya-san from Suzumiya Haruhi series
3) Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid 2
4) Midori from Midori no Hibi
5) Yotsuba from Yotsubato
6) Minami from Lucky Star
7) Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier.
Jon should have drawn Blanka moe style and threw him in too D=
but Blanka has red hair. Orz
@ NLG: You were? I should have camp there more often.. So did you enjoy the artwork there?
@ Phossil: Yup it is.. Most of the artwork I saw were spectacular.. ^^
@ Mizunaga: LOL.. Those were awesome actually.. The Black Rock Shooter poster I brought back home is made by them.. Very nice indeed.. X3
@ Squee and Mycstea: Wow.. Thanks for the identification.. XD
@ Mycstea: Darn, you remember all the character names.. I only forgot Asa’s name.. FAIL.. Anyway, here is the cookie that I’m supposed to give out as prize.. ^^;;
@ Tragic Comedy: Blanka MOE could be a separate artwork.. xD
@NLG: For some reason I get the feeling we may have walked past each other without noticing.
@Mizunaga: I agree with Fariz, some of them were great, especially those by ~pcmaniac88.
@Mycstea: I didn’t recognise Midori and Asa. Maybe I need to watch moar old anime.
@tragic: Dye his hair green. XD
Crap, those posters are already beginning to warp. We don’t even sleep with air-conditioning. Orz
the photos are nicely taken. thanks for the coverage. it’s good to see local talents and their works.
and oh u get to the artworks for free!? *green with envy* O_O
