I chance upon this game on the net, together with Fuzzy while we were searching for a good mini-game to play.. Well, Fuzzy kinda told me about this game which was released quite a while ago (About a few months awhile lol).. It is a Bullet hell (弾幕, danmaku, “barrage” or “bullet curtain”) kind of game with Hatsune Miku as the main character herself.. So since it was Hatsune Miku, we gave it a try.. ^^
So the title of the game is called “Hector’39″.. I still dont understand why it is called like so.. Anyway, before we talk about playing the game itself, lets get to know more info about the group who made it.. As you all know, the game is made by a developer group, “Ichigo-Citron”, known by their release of the game “Melon Squash” during Comiket 70..
The full version of the game was released on August 1st 2008.. Not sure whether it was sold during Comiket 75 but you never know.. xD Anyway, so how do you get the game? Simple, visit the link by clicking the banner above and you will be directed to the website itself.. Then you can download the file..
Filename: ヘクターミク ゲームプログラム [Ver1.00]
Size: 14.1MB
So after you downloaded the file, you can now open it.. Next, a window will open, asking you the destination folder where it can extract all the files it contains into it.. After selecting the folder, click on the left button..
If the extraction is successful, you will see a folder called Hector39[Ver100] in the destination folder you chose earlier on.. Installation is now complete.. ^^
So to play the game, you can click on the filename, “Hector39″ with a Hatsune Miku picture as an icon.. This will open up a window asking whether you wish to play the game in fullscreen or in windowed mode (Without the use of Applocale)..
1st Option: FullScreen
2nd Option: Windowed Mode
After you start the game, there will be a taskbar icons which is shaped like a green box.. “Right-click” and select first option to open a music player.. This allow BGM to play during gameplay..
And Voila!! You are now able to play the game.. Welcome to Hector39.. I will show you around the game menus and show how this game really works.. So first up we got the Main Menu (Played in Windowed Mode)..
So we got 4 Options to choose from; “Game Start”, “Config”, “High Score” and “Exit”..
So under “Game Start”, you can play the game in 3 types of difficulty, “Easy”, “Basic” and “Hard”.. Its simple that I don’t need to explain what they are too right? xD
Now if you click under “Config”, you will be sent to the game configuration page.. In here, you are given a variety of options to change here and there.. Since I don’t have a Japanses writer with me, I will just give them Option 1 – 7..
So now let me show you what each thing can do:
Option 1: Enable/Disable background picture in-game..
Option 2: Enable/Disable BGM in-game..
Option 3: Increase/Decrease the game’s sound..
Option 4: Increase/Decrease the game’s BGM..
Option 5: I dunno what this one can do.. IF anyone knows, do tell.. ^^;;
Option 6: Change of control buttons for “Attack”, “Bomb” and “Slow”..
Option 7: Save config and go back to Main Menu..
After you are done with the configuration, you can click on Option 7 to save configuration and go back to Main Menu.. Now there are the remaining 2 Main Menu options, “High Score” and “Exit” which I dont think need any explanation at all, so I am gonna skip those..
Now you can also press “F1″ and F2″, which the former allowing you to go to the help menu.. In this page, you are able to understand the basic objective of the game, just kill and destroy any “Nico-Nico” characters..
The latter on the other hand allows you to select different voices of Hatsune Miku when you play the game.. She will actually talk sometimes during gameplay such as when you just enter the battlescene or before boss stages..
Well, I guess you can now play the game then.. As said before, your opponents are characters from “Nico-Nico” like the “Mini-TV” and much more.. You will know them as logo for the website itself, NicoVideo.. ^^
The game has a total of 5 Chapters, each having about 4 stages with the last one being a boss stage (Like always)… So during the boss stage, youj have to eliminate the boss within the limited time given to you..
In some cases, you have to use the “Slow” button (Default: C)so that you are able to dodge through the many bullets the enemy are shooting at you, including the boss stage.. This prevents you from accidently going slightly farther than you expect and perhaps get hurt by enemy’s fire..
If all else fails, you can use the “Bomb” (Default: X) to kill all normal monsters at that area..
I simply love this Miku picture in “Bomb” attack..
Mole is good bomb, yes?
After completing the whole 5 chapters, you have now completed the game, you will sent to the credits..
After the credits has ended, you will be shown one nice picture of Hatsune Miku like so.. xD
So if you still want to know how one chapter is, you can watch this video to know more..
Well, that is all I have for the game.. I hope you get to enjoy playing the game.. I simply love the Hatsune Miku artwork made by the person and his partner.. She really looks cute indeed.. ^^
If you have any problems or something to enquire about, do comment as well.. There is another site which talks about this game, though the game version it provides is an older one.. As for now, I will get my good rest.. See ya!! =3

Looks good and fun.
@ TC: Yup, this game is quite nice actually.. The game really challenges you, especially the final 2 chapters… Those are serious killers which I almost lost.. Hurray for the bomb though..
I simply love the artwork of Miku in the game, very nice indeed..
Though very simple, the gameplay is addicting, especially to Miku fans. I like the cute voice-overs, especially Miku’s battle-cry before a boss battle.
“Miku miku shite ageru!”
(*A*)
“Miku miku shite ageru!”
I’m pretty sure that’s a reference to the ‘leek missile’ part of the music video for みくみくにしてあげる♪.
