Innuendo win.
It’s the school festival, and the girls are holding a concert on that day. The episode centers around Mio trying to get everyone together to practise their performance, as well as getting to grips with the fact that she has to sing her embarrassing song (which she wrote herself, therefore making it HER OWN FAULT. HA!)

First off, I’m really beginning to notice the product placement. I mean, in the above scene, we see a second (or was it two?) of the brand logo, then we switch to a pan up to Tsumugi’s face. I don’t mean it just pans away from the logo; it actually cuts to an angle above the logo and then pans up.
What the hell. Thank you KyoAni.

Anyway, they had a music video during the performance. This was the one thing I didn’t expect, since I thought they’d just do a scene with the girls playing live, similar to the God Knows performance in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Also, for the entire episode, Aki Toyosaki (Yui) had to force herself to speak (and sing) as if she had a sore throat. I feel kinda sorry for her. You can still hear her sing (albeit not with a clear voice) during the music video sequence, which is kinda strange since Yui wasn’t supposed to be singing either.
Also, yes, I love my rice bowl. My blue, striped rice bowl.

Sawako’s obsession with costumes reminds me of Yoshinoya-sensei from Hidamari Sketch, though here she just dresses up the band in cute costumes instead of wearing them herself. It’s like a teaser to the group’s next performance in the show, making fans go “what will they wear next”. It’s also great for cosplayers since they’d have a lot of choice in choosing a cute costume.
Though I think they’d just go with the top hat and walking stick.

The episode also had a lot of crazy funny crap, and lot of Mio Moe Moments, so Mio fans will definitely want to watch this.

By the way, I think I’m starting to have more appreciation for Nodoka than I initially had when I started watching the series. :3
Next episode is a Christmas episode. Even though we’re nowhere near Christmas. Oh well.
(Two…more…episodes…!)
