CURRENTLY LISTENING TO: Mizuki Nana’s latest album Ultimate Diamond

Well well, look what we have here. A new guest writer. ME!

Originally, I planned to have this posted sometime before Fariz actually boarded the ferry to purgatory (Tekong), but if I had learnt anything from my time after ORD-ing, it is procrastination. Nonetheless, greetings to all readers of KK. 皆さん、どぞよろしく!

I think I’m fairly new to the whole otaku thing, since I’ve only seriously started watching anime since 2006. You guys can track what I’ve watch thus far over at MyAnimeList, but I’m pretty sure it pales in comparison to many others. In addition to anime, I read my fair share of manga, visual novels and *cougherogecough. In my defence, I’ll say it’s all for the sake in improving my Japanese. Come to think about it, I’ve been digging away at the language for almost 2 years, and there’s still a lot of stuff i do not understand, maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Being exposed to any hobby, I’m sure any one of you would have learnt to pick up some favourites about your hobby. Personally, mine would be the voice of EPIC seiyuu, Mizuki Nana. My first exposure to her was when i actually cam across Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, where she provided her voice for Fate Testarossa (start fapping people), and as well as singing the OP “Innocent Starter”. Since then, I’ve tried to make it a point to give any anime she appears in a shot… unless it utterly sucks.

Well as seen earlier, I’m currently listening to her latest album, which was released on 02/06/09, which thanks to FedEx and Amazon JP, i got it the very next day, though shipping is a bit hefty. In general, I’m like what I’m hearing so far, though it pains me slightly that some tracks are ‘recycled’ from her earlier singles. Out of the 15 songs, these songs are re-used:

  • Track 04: Trickster (off her single of the same name which also comprises the OP and ED for Rosario + Vampire Capu2. DISCOTHEQUE FTW)
  • Track 10: Dancing in the velvet moon (off her Starcamp EP. ED for Rosario + Vampire)
  • Track 12: 深愛 [Shin Ai] (off the single of the same name. OP for White Album. OGATA RINA!!!)
  • Track 14: Astrogation (off Starcamp EP as well)

Having said that, Shin Ai is still my favourite out of the whole bunch currently, but it may change as I listen to the whole album more.

That brings to the end of the quick introduction to the album, and as well as myself. Back to camping for the next episode of K-On while I catch up on some other anime. Currently hooked on Blood+ (possibly because some people are pestering inviting me to go watch the movie with them).

SHAMELESS PLUG: I’m organizing a trip to Cash Studios @ Cuppage Plaza this Sunday (07/06/09). If you are remotely interested in going, leave a comment. I may be able to arrange something =D Apparently i can’t get enough people.. so i’ve canceled the booking…
