K-ON! EP10 – Yuri Anime in Disguise

Well, I guess when you have girl-only characters…

Summary: The club members decide to have a summer training camp at another one of Tsumugi’s “small” villas. Other than the fact that Sawako and Azusa are present (and this episode’s focus is on Azusa learning about the others), pretty much it’s a repeat of a certain past episode.

After watching the interaction in this episode, it has become obvious that the anime is evolving (devolving) into a yuri anime. The subtle hints are already there, if you’re dull enough not to notice them.

1. Mio x Azusa

The similarity is already uncanny.

2. Ui x Yui

Incest due to the lack of parental love.

3. Ritsu x Yui

Screwballs of a feather flock together.

4. Yui x Azusa

Just a little more taming.

5. Sawako x Boobs

That’s all she really needs.

6. Tsumugi x Everyone so far

It’s her ultimate objective.

If you think about it, if K-ON! was to focus solely on Tsumugi’s point of view, the genre would take a massive shift. A filthy-rich street-stupid girl playing the piano in an all-girls light music club as part of her ultimate plan to satisfy her desire for yuri. Tsumugi-vision would be present 100% of the time.

Just speculation, of course.

There has been talk of a certain animation error in this episode (which isn’t all that surprising, IMO), but hopefully the animation won’t degrade to total shit near the end. We’ll most likely end with a final performance with the entire band, including Azusa…but unfortunately that hasn’t been reflected in the manga yet. Oh shit it has.

That’s what I get for forgetting to check. Looks like KyoAni will have to cut a few corners to squeeze the story in.

Next episode: Yui forgot to change her guitar strings, so they have to return to a familiar music store.
