It’s for the arcades!
As of now, the game is being called Project DIVA Arcade, though SEGA has stressed that this name is still tentative and subject to change.
This time, SEGA will give the general public a chance to contribute their own music to the game (though obviously it must be VOCALOID music). They’ll open up posting of videos at the official Nico Nico Douga page from 15 to 31 October 2009, and winners will be selected by the Project DIVA staff.
The duration of the videos/songs must be between 2:30 and 3:30 and must be 100% original (i.e. not a remix or variation of an existing song). Winners will have their music pieces used in a location test in January 2010, and possibly in the final arcade game. They’ll also receive Hatsune Miku merchandise to boot.
Piapro themselves have also started an event to allow artists to contribute to the game. Participants can tag their images to submit them for one of the following categories:
- Costume design
- Illustrations dedicated to original songs (I don’t get this one either)
- Loading screens
All the categories are open today, though costume design will be closed on the 25th of October (presumably to give the developers time to produce the 3D outfits), while the other 2 categories will close on the 23rd of November. You may view the rules here, though it’s all in Japanese. Request via a comment and I’ll try to make out what they are. XD
We covered the teaser in a previous post…but personally, I didn’t see this coming. This game would probably take time before it’ll reach our shores, but at least I know I won’t have to shell out for a PS3 to play this.
But still…damn. O_o

ogreat, how will I play it nao? at least if it were for the ps3 I could buy the console just for the game >.<
Sega released Project Diva on PSP and it’s common place in Japan to release games in arcades before making a console release. Considering Sony Music is releasing the official Hatsune Miku albums I see an inevitable PS3 release of this game. A rule of the thumb: if a company can milk a game by releasing it on many platforms it will.
Why we dont have an AI Miku for PS3? :C
