Running Time: About 108 minutes
After waiting for at least more than a year, The Rebuild of Evangelion Part 2 or as the title goes; “Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) Advance” is finally being screened in Singapore.. The wait is slightly shorter than the first movie, translation-wise and other things which took about 6 months.. This time it is cut short by a month (maybe due to popular demand) which I find its not so bad for a movie..

Before I even begin talking about the movie itself, lets shift focus to the poster..
I was abit disappointed in the new poster of the EVA, it is like a simple “wtfisthissketchinaposter” which I know represent EVA 01 in Berserk mode.. But still, they can do better in their poster like their first movie lolz..
So, coming back to the review itself, I was quite excited to see the movie has more action scenes (due to so many Angels appearing in one movie).. Although the storyline doesn’t follow the anime itself, I find that they putting in “new stuff” like the EVA 02’s “Alternate” mode apart from the standard Berserk Mode EVA 01 has been showing..
For a start there is a new addition of character; Mari Illustrious Makinami (below), voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.. The much talked about pilot for EVA-05 got a good screen-time in the movie itself, especially the last scene.. XD
For those who have been waiting for the arrival of Asuka Langley Soryu, she has now appeared, even arriving in a grand way and managed to kill one Angel in style too..
Unfortunately, she got a new name in the movie; Asuka Langley Shikinami (式波) which I find the change unnecessary.. The good news is that she got a rank of a Captain of the Euro airforce.. Well, that made me like her more.. ^^
Well, there are quite alot of new changes in the movie, like Angels having new skills which was never shown in the anime, and the powers of EVA 01 which you have never seen before (can’t spoil so much right?).. To know more, you just have to catch the movie (if you are in Singapore that is for now~)…
Bad Things?
This would be short and simple.. Firstly, some of the scenes felt abit cut off.. Its like you are about to understand a particular scene and it abruptly changes to another new scene.. Me and Fuzzy were abit disappointed about that but hey, the action scenes make up for it..
Next would be the short screentime for my lovely Asuka Langley.. She got “killed” off from the movie in the middle of the movie.. Even Mari Illustrious got more screentime than her.. I NEED MORE ASUKA!!
Well, thats all I have regarding EVA 2.0.. The movie was indeed spectacular, from its CGI to the story itself.. There will be some “OMGWTF” scenes, like the “Olympic running scene”.. Orz I shall end this with the video trailer of the movie itself.. Hope you all go and watch the movie, you won’t regret it.. XD

Watched eva 2.0 on fri. It is AWESOME!!! nice fight scenes.
But why must they kill off Asuka!!! *rage* In almost the same style as End of Eva. *disgusts* Btw, Mari is nyaa~.
Anyway, Asuka is awesome. Nice service too. Loving it! :3
Yeah, Asuka got such a short screentime in the movie than I expected.. Hopefully she could do more action scenes in the 3rd film.. ^^
And yes, the service is epicly awesome~ XD

The movie…was awesome. Probably one of the few times a movie got me so engrossed I forgot to finish my drink. IMO it surpassed the first movie in terms of, well, awesomeness.
Mari almost feels like she doesn’t belong in the story; her personality stands out from the rest, and IMO she’s a total bad-ass.
Asuka…I dunno, I’d rather have Rei over Asuka, but Mari’s still a total bad-ass.
Also, children singing let’s be friends. Only those who have watched it will understand this inside joke.
yes, I really think the children singing soundtrack is a problem ^^;
still a great movie though, never was I so interested in evangelion’s story till I watched this 2.0 and mari is <3

well, asuka isn’t dead…and i think she’ll be back…
and i think that children singing background music is a very good psychological trick…
the juxtaposition between what u see on the screen and what u hear, as well as the meaning of the song, creates a very good opportunity for comparison…it allows one to remove oneself from the instinctive reaction to the scene and regard it in a more…clinical manner perhaps?
and the most epic thing was that yesterday i just so happened to have sung 翼をください, the keion version, and so i got to sing along with it in the movie XD

I wish I’m in Singapore right now… Eva 2.0 and AFA… T_T
Anyways, I talked with blitzmegaplex (the cinema who aired Eva 1.0 in Indonesia a few months ago – best movie I have ever watched on a local cinema) and they said they’re talked to their distributor to take Eva 2.0 to Indonesia. So… am hoping that they’d succeed. Their Eva 1.0 sales was great so Eva 2.0 should come to Indonesia too, right? D=
Oh well, if it’s not happening I can still buy the DVD. =S
