There is no other word to describe this. Really.

From the trailers alone, it was obvious that the DIVA Engine (that’s what I call it at least) was going to get a major overhaul…but watching the real thing really blows my expectations out of the water.

Fellow blogger moetron posted up some footage from the first location test of the game earlier (as did Miku Aishiteru).

You can see how the interface has been revamped. You choose your difficulty, pick a song, and the game whisks you to the familiar button mashing of the PlayStation symbols.

Yeah, I’m surprised they didn’t change that, too. >_>

You don’t unlock costumes/models this time round; instead you buy them using VPs (which should stand for “Vocaloid Points”). Yowane Haku fans, rejoice! Too bad the camera-man turned.

Obviously, the “room” feature is missing, so if you want to enjoy that portion of the game in full HD quality, you’ll have to wait for the PS3 version, if and when it gets released.

The gameplay is exactly the same (why fix something that isn’t broke, right?), and although it looks way better than its PSP counterpart, it still runs perfectly smooth. Not bad at all, SEGA. Can’t wait for this one to arrive at our shores (though it’ll definitely burn a hold in my wallet).

And it might just be me, but the loading screen appears to be a reference to a certain old PV. Way to sell to the fans, SEGA. ^_^
