Anime Festival Asia 2009 Cosplay~

I really enjoyed the Anime Festival Asia 2009 held at the Suntec Convention Centre, though I didn’t have time to blog about the event itself due to National Service.. All thanks to my brother Fuzzy on doing the event coverage, I have to say he did a good job on it.. ^^

Well, fret not.. I took the liberty to take charge on posting on the Cosplay part and also the loot I got from the event itself.. For today, I shall touch on the cosplay part.. I took quite a number of pictures during both days of the event.. However, I shall be posting some of them onto my DeviantArt account only while the rest are given the opportunity to be posted here.. XD

CosCon at WCG S’pore 08

Earlier on, I posted about the World Cyber Games Singapore 08 held at the Suntec Convention Hall which I went yesterday. However, the reason for me being there isn’t because of just the games and the WCG tournament..

I was there to catch the CosCon event which was only held yesterday.. So I grabbed this opportunity to go there, even on Singapore’s National Day Parade and also Team Blue’s console session..

So the event starts off at the main stage area(I was playing the game Too+Human when it started), the host introduces the panel of judges and also the 24 competitors tht entered the cosplay contest..

Although I was kind of late in covering the beginning of the contest, I managed to take some shots of the last few contestants being interviewed by the host.. We got Predator..

Then we have the Green Ranger from Power Rangers..

Well, here are the 24 contestants on stage.. Left side..

After the 24 contestants are announced, voting was carried out to find the TOP 9(The 10th contestant went missing so not counted) of the cosplay competition..

While votes are being made, the event shifted to singing.. There were quite a few number of Japanese songs being sung.. The ones I like were the song “Daybreak’s Bell” from the 1st OP of Gundam00..

The other was “Seikan Hikou” sung by our very own Ranka Lee.. ^^

Her singing was alright but the plus point was that she did some of the same dance moves as the real Ranka in Macross Frontier..

After the singing event, it was time for the D-Grayman group to do Hare hare Yukai.. They were supposed to do something better using the song “Gekidou”.. However, the disc with the music in it went missing so they had no choice but to go for Hare Hare Yukai dance..

Well, at least there is the Haruhi cosplayer who cosplayed as Lenalee during CosCon.. XD

So after the dance, it was back to the cosplay competition.. After the TOP 9 was announced before the Hare Hare Yukai dance, it was time to announce the winners of the competition..

3rd place goes to Haruhi (or what the host referred to as Naruhi??)..

2nd place goes to.. Darn, I need help in identifying this character..

The 1st place was given to the Link cosplayer.. She(Csoplayer) looks cool with the shield and sword.. ^^

Now from here onwards are some of the pictures I took of the cosplayers during and after the CosCon event.. I would like to say sorry for some of the blurred pictures.. My camera wasn’t good at taking shots under dim lighting..

There would be another Natsu Matsuri event at VivoCity but I need to check online to confirm the date.. There will be another cosplay event there but as I said it, need further checking…

Vocaloid Weekly #42 taken over by Ranka’s \m/

Well, being a Vocaloid fan, especially Hatsune Miku, I’ve been watching closely at the NicoDouga Vocaloid Weekly Rankings for the past few months.. However, just recently, the rankings has seen a number of entries which are remakes of Ranka’s “Seikan Hikou”..

Anyway, back to topic at hand, I was thinking of permanently posting the Vocaloid Weekly Rankings in my blog.. This is my first one so I wish to say sorry if it is not that interesting..

So let us start off with the videos:

Well, this is kinda expected of them to make a Hatsune Miku remake of “Senkan Hikou” but the whole Volcaloid stars?? That is freaking awesome..

Here is what I feel about some of the songs in the ranking:

29 – “Love is War”: Still manages to hang on onto the top 30 Vocaloid rankings.. The song is alright but not my fav. ..
28 – “Time & Space”: Well, I find that the new Kagamine Rin and Len ACT2 voices are way better than their previoud version. Their voice is much more refined, hence nicer singing..
26 – “The Grace of the Scarlet Dragon”: Didn’t expect this song to be pulled down from ’9′ to ’26′..
22 – “Soar”: I find this song quite catchy.. Hope it will rise up in the ranks.. ^^
12 – “Melt”: I am very amazed that this song by Ryo has going through ups and downs and still manage to cling on to the TOP 20.. This is H4X.. XD
2 – “「卑怯戦隊うろたんだー」”: I’m speechless.. This song has been in number 2 for quite some time and still stuck there till this day..
30,14,10,1 – Vocaloid remake of Senkan Hikou: Err… AWESOME!!

Well, Ranka’s MOE-ness and her \m/ sign has been etched in almost mind after they watched episode 12 of Macross Frontier.. The song is so cool, I have it as my handphone ringtone and MP3 player..

There are some illustration on how the \m/ movements work but I find this quite interesting.. To see what is \m/, you can visit Windbell’s blog here for more details..

It is ULTRA RARE to have some loli coming down in a fighter plane in the midst of a battle and end the fight with the soldiers fainting with nosebleeds due to the loli being very MOE..

EXCLUSIVE StreetFest ’08 Dance Videos

Although I made an entry about the Street Festival (StreetFest) a few days ago, I’ve decided to make another one.. No, it is not another post about more pictures taken during the festival or about the iDOLM@STER pic above..

This time however is about the videos recorded during the festival..

Yup, I’m talking about the videos of the cosplayers and some additional people doing well-known otaku-related dances, such as Nyan Nyan, Danjo, etc…

Now let us begin with the first one which is the group doing Caramelldansen.. Below is a screenshot of the Caramelldansen I made using MikuMikuDance.. For more info about this click here..

Note: All videos embedded here are of “&fmt=18″ quality so do not move the progress bar of the player. It is still buggy..

So without further waiting, here is the video..

Next up is the Hare Hare Yukai Dance which most people know about. The dance comes from the ED of Suzumiya Haruhi.

The best thing is is that there have been a Special version of the ED (without the credits and full of dance) and another version that is in 3D and all chracters are wearing costumes instead of uniforms..

Last but not least we have the Nyan Nyan Dance from the anime series Macross Frontier (or known as Macross F).. The dance was actually done by a character in the anime named Ranka Lee..

I’ve posted about this dance way before the 2nd Outing so check it out by clicking here..

Anyway, here is the video.. I’ve edited it so it fit nicely to the Nyan Nyan song Rock Edition.. XD

And there you have it, the dances that are recorded during the StreetFest ’08.. Although the dances were alright, I give them an A+ for effort since judging by the Hare Hare Yukai dance, they knew how to dance the full song.. I’m honoured to get a chance to watch that..

These videos are all recorded by my friend, Akabane who used his psp to get the dances (Good Job btw!!)..

I also like to thank Infestor51 for helping me in editing the videos and put in songs, this-that.. ^^

Actually, there is one more video Akabane recorded which is the Danjo dance.. Problem is I couldn’t find the song online so I’m putting that on hold till I can find some good source..

Yeah, I know it’s kinda late to post about the OP of 2 animes but wanted to do so because I jut got the full song of the OP of both animes…

To those who don’t know the gist of the story, I’m gonna tell you..

To protect the world against the threat posed by an unknown Child of Enka, the Japanese Imperial Agency for Supernatural Phenomena decides to gather all the possible Children of Enka together into one family, headed by one of the workers for the agency, Midarezaki Ouka.

Apparently the other child of Enka were given very odd names which ends with -ka.. They all are Kyouka, Ginka, Yuuka, Hyouka, Chika, Teika and Gekka.. -_-”

Well, the randomness of the show keeps me entertain but to entertain the masses they add a little family-based story in it..

A synopsis of the show:

During a mission to an unexplored asteroid belt, a reconnaissance New U.N. Spacy (N.U.N.S.) VF-171 is destroyed by extremely powerful and fast insectoid biomechanical alien mecha known as the “Vajra”, (バジュラ)[1], which immediately begin their attack on the rest of the fleet. Not being able to stop the new enemy threat, the N.U.N.S. colonial defense forces authorize the deployment of a civilian military provider organization called S.M.S., which utilizes the new VF-25 variable fighter to destroy the alien menace.

Well, graphic-wise, speechless.. Very good till it looks like a movie itself.. At least the fighting actions are better than Gundam, IMO..

I can sense a Revoltech model gonna come out soon.. ^^

Well, other than just the mecha, there is still 2 lolis in the show.. One is Ranka(below)..

The loli-ness gets better with episodes after episodes..

The other will be Captain Klein Klan (micloned ver.).. The ‘Oda Oda Oda Oda’ scene was just enough to be put on the Macross Frontier “moe” list..

A new internet phenomenon is about to hit the online community.. It could become as famous as Caramelldansen.. Well, let me intorduce to you,

The Nyan-Nyan Dance

No, it’s not the Nyan Nyan Nyankos; white kittens that enjoy mimicking various items, generally edible items and they may also appear as everyday items too..

Well anyway, this phenomenon began when the anime it’s from; Macross Frontier which had one dance scene where Renka/Ranka did it..

So how does the dance goes? Well, you follow the dance move here in this video..

While doing so sing this sentence:

“Nyan Nyan Nyan Nyan Ni Hao Nyan Goujasu Derishasu Dekaruchaa!”

The advertisement(below) during the middle of the show advertise the eatery she works at.. The ad shows a very cute chibi doing the dance..

After that episode, alot of video pops out, including those in Youtube and NicoVideo..

Well, I manage to find the few best ones of the Nyan-Nyan Dance from youtube..

Wow, the longest loop video I’ve seen.. Even longer than the longest Caramelldansen loop..

Well, I downloaded the video off youtube (high-quality format) and I love listening to the song over and over again..

The song also inspired me to make a video of the song using MikuMikuDance.. I’m currently in the process of making Hatsune Miku turn around correctly..

However, with schoolwork and house chores to do, the video might be put on hold for the time being.. But hope is not lost for the production of the video.. I’m also searching the internet for the rock version of the song..

Well, I’m now going to go and practice the Nyan-Nyan Dance and maybe become a busker doing that dance.. ^^
