Nothing new to see here.

The PC Show is just another convention catering to the geeks and (gullible) common consumers, with prices (supposedly) reaching an all-time low and freebies going along with purchases, making it a good time to buy…stuff.

I went to this year’s PC Show (which is apparently 18 years old now), and as I thought, apart from cheap(er) stuff on display, there wasn’t really anything new or unique. I had gone anyway with Panther to check up on prices, especially for hard drives, which I’m sure all you otaku readers love to own for obvious reasons.

I also went for another reason: I had heard there were Dragonica client CDs to be had. Panther and I searched high and low for an IAHGames booth (since we didn’t read the announcement post properly prior to coming) but didn’t find one. I finally spotted a pile of familiar paperback CD casings sitting near a computer.

I swiped 2 CDs, so if anyone can’t make it to The PC Show to get a copy, feel free to ask.

There was 1 (literally) cool gadget which I found. It was a laptop cooling pad that actually decreases its temperature, to the point that there was condensation. Cool (no pun intended), but unless my notebook doesn’t have rubber rests, that pad’s not going to do much for me.

Since there isn’t much else to say about the convention let me tell you what happened at the McDonald’s (Suntec City) we went to after wandering around.

I had ordered a meal with fries, and somehow found one with a green tip. Miffed, I went to the counter to inform the staff before someone else actually ate one of those.

And this is the transcript between me and the counter auntie (roughly):

Me: Hey, why does this french fry have a green tip?
Auntie: Oh, uh you know ah, the french fry packet must have been exposed to the sun, that’s why it turned green. Still edible.

I am shitting you not. That was more or less what she said. I would’ve burst out in laughter if it wasn’t my french fry.

I decided not to pursue the matter, opting to accept that ridiculous explanation anyway. Besides, the counter lady beside her looked as if her eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

Moral of the story? **** McDonald’s.

Singapore PC Show 2008 2nd Day

Well, it wa a tiring day as me and my brother, Infestor51 reached home at 10pm after heading down to Suntec City for the last day of the Singapore PC Show 2008..

I did talked about the reason I didn’t get to go in yesterday in my last post.. Anyway, this time, we went early at about 2pm+ to get into the convention hall before the afternoon crowd which is gonna make the whole convention centre very packed like a sardine can..

As usual, the crowd in the main convention hall is always crowded since there are huge companies such as Acer, Fujitsu, Sony, Sharp, Canon, etc… They sell a wide variety of products ranging from PCs to TVs to Cameras..

I was at the convention gazing at laptops and TVs wondering if I should work part-time to buy a new laptop and a big HD-Ready TV for my own myself.. Besides, my mum won’t complain since I used my own money.. ( Except for the electricity bills of course.. )

I’m wondering is Sharp Aquos TVs are a good buy.. Need opinion here in buying TVs.. ^^

Well, the 4th level convention hall was getting abit too crowded so me and Infestor51 decided to head upstairs on the 6th level to see more products on sale..

Apparently in every PC/IT Show, the 4th floor is mostly occupied by big companies while those at at the 6th floor are mostly SMEs that still sell great products and these products can be bought cheaper than those by big companies..

We stayed on till 9pm which is the closing time for the PC Show ( Well, events like this won’t be 24hours right??).. We took our time browsing through the whole convention from 3rd floor (Belong to Sony) all the way till 6th floor..

Apple’s MacBooks.. An increase number of people are using Macs (Not McDonalds) to do their normal routine like they do on other laptops.. My friends are even switching to Macs too.. -_-”

We did came back with something… I got a 4gb microSD card at around $25.. My brother didn’t get to buy anything because all the products he wanted are way overbudget for him..

Well, that is the end of my report of my visit to the PC Show.. Will report again for the next IT/PC Show soon…

Singapore PC Show 2008 Prelude

It’s finally here again, the annual Singapore PC Show has finally opened for the public to buy all Electronics-related products.. It is touted as Singapore’s longest IT and Electronics Show, which is in its 18th presentation..

The event goes like this:

Date : 12 – 15 June 2008
Venue : Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre
Location : Level 3, 4 and 6
Organizer : Lines Exposition & Management Services Pte Ltd
Time : 12.00 pm – 9.00 pm

I went there alone on the 3rd day of the convention after my studies with Benjamin, FlareFox and Benn for exam.. -_-” Going there at 3pm was already problem… Human traffic from City Hall MRT Station in Citylink Mall was pretty much crowded.. Luckily it wasn’t chaotic..

And when you expect the traffic at Citylink Mall to be very crowded, you have not seen the entrance to the Convention Hall in Suntec City..

Took me 5 mins to get through this crowd..

The first booth I saw when I reach the 3rd floor was Singtel.. The set up a very huge booth area compared to the one used by Starhub in the last Singapore IT Show..

They even set up a special spot for you to test out their modded F1 car to drive around in the simulated track of Singapore in the upcoming F1 race in September..

And of course my favourite booth in every IT or PC show, Sony who again set up their long booths at the 3rd floor of the Convention Centre.. You know what this means.. They have free PS3 games for people to play, including me..

By then, I meet up with Panther, Jon and Sam who were also wishing to go into the convention hall.. But due to the overwhelming number of people in it, we decided that it was not fruitful to enter it without purchasing anything inside..

So we headed off to Kallang Leisure Park and to La Tendo for some figurines window shopping.. ^^

Well, I’m gonna go to the PC show 2morrow which is the last day of the convention and see what products are currently on sale and etc.. I’m going with my brother, Infestor51 this time though..

And I recommend going to the PC show and buy something good.. Even C.I. got a 42″ TV from the PC show.. ( Wat The FLY!! )
